All PrintHub terminals are controlled by shell application that was developed specially for them. The shell is a terminal application - it just enables input/output, passes all commands to PrintHub cloud and receives processed results from there. The cloud in turn monitors all connected terminals, stores and processes received files and generates print previews for all orders. Such approach allows us to use just a single application on terminal for handling all document formats and exempt us from installing document processors such as MS Word or Acrobat Reader on each terminal.
All documents are processed by PrintHub cloud and they are coming back in pre-processed, ready for printing, state to all terminals. Such unification allows us to guarantee that documents will be printed exactly as it is expected by terminal user. All documents from MS Office package are processed with using MS Office components as well as pdf documents are processed with usage of Adobe components. We are not using 3rd party renderers for processing documents because in most cases they distort the original view that may end up in inaccurate printouts.
Each terminal has built in monitoring service controlling the state of the terminal, paper and toner consumption and it forecasts the time of the next service. During documents processing, PrintHub cloud calculates fill factors of all base colors on each page and it let us correct the prices of service depending on fill factor and more accurately forecast when the toner must be replaced or refilled.
The PrintHub shell supports printing from any USB devices, from files sent over email, on-line orders and scanned files. Service prices are configured in the cloud and terminal administrator can change it at anytime online. Prices configurator is flexible and it supports setting prices based on various factors such as: order volume, fill factor index, single side or duplex printing.
